Algeria’s A’ national team defeated Bahrain with an emphatic 5–1 win, after leading 3–1 at halftime, in their second Group D match of the FIFA Arab Cup 2025 (December 1–18). The game was played this Saturday at Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
The goals for Algeria were scored by Barkane (24’, 48’), Boulbina (30’, 80’), and Ben Ziya (45+6’, penalty), while Abduljabbar Mahdi (27’) pulled one back for Bahrain.
The match also saw Bahraini player Amin Ben Addi sent off in the 45+4’ minute.
Following this result, the “Greens” temporarily top Group D with 4 points, ahead of Iraq (3 points) and Sudan (1 point), while Bahrain remain at the bottom with no points and have been eliminated from the competition.
The second Group D match between Iraq and Sudan is scheduled for 17:00.
The national team began its campaign in the tournament with a goalless draw against Sudan (0–0), while Iraq defeated Bahrain (2–1).
The third and final round of Group D will take place on Tuesday, December 9, with Algeria facing Iraq in a decisive match to qualify for the quarterfinals, while Sudan will face Bahrain at 18:00.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, scheduled for December 11 and 12.
The winner of the Arab Cup will receive a prize exceeding $7 million, while the runner-up will take home more than $4 million.
