The Somali Council of Ministers announced on Monday its decision to cancel all agreements concluded with the United Arab Emirates, including those related to security and defense, citing "hostile" acts committed against Somalia's unity and sovereignty, according to media reports.

The Cabinet announced it had decided to terminate "all agreements with the Emirati government, including those signed with regional administrations," specifying that this decision also covers deals regarding the ports of Berbera, Bosaso, and Kismayo.

This decision, which also includes "bilateral cooperation agreements on security and defense [...], is based on credible reports and convincing evidence regarding hostile actions undermining the country's national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence," the Council stated.

It added that these "pernicious" actions violated the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference, and adherence to the country's constitutional system.

The Council deemed the conduct of the United Arab Emirates to be contrary to the principles of the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Arab League.

These actions also contravene the will of the Somali people and threaten the country's unity and independence, the statement noted.

The Somali Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the United Arab Emirates of this decision, as well as international and regional partners including the AU and the UN, according to the same sources.
