More than 18,500 people are in need of urgent medical evacuation from the Gaza Strip, stated World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
"Last week, WHO supported the medical evacuation of 18 patients and 36 companions from Gaza to Jordan for trauma care and treatment for cancer, gastrointestinal, renal, and immunological conditions, as well as other serious diseases," indicated Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a message posted on social media on Monday.
He stated that "since October 2023, over 10,700 patients have been evacuated from Gaza for specialized treatment in more than 30 countries," noting, however, that "over 18,500 people, including 4,000 children, remain in urgent need of medical evacuation."
