The agency added that it gathered the opinions of several members of the national community in Niamey, who spoke about the importance of fulfilling their electoral duty and exercising their rights as citizens. They expressed appreciation for the human, material, and organizational resources deployed by the Algerian Embassy in Niger to ensure the voting process runs under the best possible conditions.
For its part, the African Press Agency noted that the Algerian legislative elections scheduled for July 2 have begun among the national community residing abroad, in accordance with the calendar set by the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE). It highlighted that a total of 854,285 registered voters across 58 countries are called upon to cast their ballots out of a national electoral body comprising 24,727,041 voters.
The agency also highlighted the specific characteristics of this legislative milestone, pointing to the increase in the number of seats allocated to the diaspora in the upcoming People's National Assembly from 8 to 12 seats.
In the same vein, the Spanish News Agency (EFE) covered the beginning of the electoral silence period yesterday, Monday. It explained that this three-day period follows an electoral campaign that was primarily centered on calling for voter participation.
The agency added that the electoral campaign, which kicked off on June 9, "focused mainly on popular rallies and activities organized by thousands of candidates belonging to various political parties as well as independent candidates, during which they explained the importance of participating in the legislative elections."
For its part, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Seyassah wrote under the title "Algerian Ambassador Calls on Diaspora Members to Participate in the Legislative Elections" that "the voting process for the Algerian diaspora in the legislative elections for the People's National Assembly started at the Embassy of the Algerian Republic in Kuwait yesterday, Monday, amid a call from the Algerian Ambassador, Mr. Omar Belhadj, for a broad participation that reflects the diaspora's keenness to fulfill their national duty."
The same newspaper added that the Algerian Ambassador to Kuwait highly valued the cooperation shown by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior in the State of Kuwait, praising the facilities provided to ensure the success of the electoral process and enable members of the national community to cast their votes with ease. He also extended his thanks to the Kuwaiti security authorities for their continuous cooperation.
For its part, the "BBC" channel's website published an article titled "Algerian Legislative Elections 2026: A Simplified Guide to Understanding the Electoral System and the New Law," noting that these legislative elections are the first to be held following the constitutional amendment approved in March 2026, and the subsequent amendment of the election law alongside the adoption of a new organic law for political parties.
