Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb has proceeded with the installation of the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding the creation of this body. The council is part of broader efforts to modernize the agricultural sector and strengthen production capacities by making agricultural equipment available to farms, according to a press release issued Sunday by the Prime Minister's office.
The National Council for Agricultural Mechanization, installed on Saturday, is composed of representatives from relevant sectors, as well as professional farmers' associations and local economic operators who manufacture agricultural equipment, the same source specifies.
In this context, the Prime Minister issued instructions to "equip this council with an action plan, specifically providing for a comprehensive assessment of farmers' equipment needs, taking into account the specificities of each agricultural branch and ensuring the identification of priority needs linked to the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 agricultural seasons to guarantee their success."
The Prime Minister also indicated that the action plan must implement "the necessary measures to strengthen and diversify local production of agricultural equipment to meet expressed needs, in compliance with current usage standards and the specificities of each agricultural region."
Furthermore, the statement highlights that the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization will address "concerns raised regarding the strengthening of national maintenance capacities and the availability of spare parts, through the establishment and development of a national maintenance network for agricultural equipment, ensuring efficiency in the use of the national fleet."
The National Council will hold periodic meetings to "evaluate the implementation status of the action plan and ensure an effective and rapid response to identified needs in the field of agricultural mechanization," the statement concludes.
