More than three million Sudanese displaced by nearly three years of conflict have returned to their homes, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) stated on Monday.

According to an IOM report, 3.3 million displaced Sudanese had returned home by the end of November 2025. This surge in returns follows a major offensive launched in late 2024 by the Sudanese Army to retake central regions that had fallen to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The campaign culminated in the recapture of Khartoum in March 2025, prompting many families to return.

More than three-quarters of the returnees were internally displaced, while 17% returned from abroad, the IOM noted.
