The United Nations renewed its call on Friday for the urgent necessity of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with international humanitarian law.

In its statement, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza, including aid workers, their buildings, and assets, remain exposed to Zionist airstrikes, shelling, and gunfire, with casualties and damage reported. OCHA pointed out that a building belonging to a humanitarian organization in Deir al-Balah sustained damage last Thursday as a result of a Zionist airstrike on a neighboring area. The office also noted that the entry of supplies into Gaza through the Karem Abu Salem Crossing has been reduced due to ongoing infrastructure work.

The statement explained that the population's access to water and sanitation services across the West Bank remains limited due to settler violence, movement restrictions, demolitions, and the destruction of infrastructure, particularly in the northern West Bank, Masafer Yatta to the south, and other areas.

The United Nations, along with its humanitarian partners, transported food items, medicines, and hygiene kits to Gaza for distribution to the most vulnerable families. Additionally, the World Health Organization and its partners supported the medical evacuation of 26 patients and their companions.
