Wildfires raging in eastern Washington state have destroyed approximately 600 homes and structures, triggering evacuation orders for nearly 5,000 residences, local media reported on Sunday.
The blazes have scorched over 21 square kilometers near the city of Spokane. This disaster is part of a broader wave of severe wildfires sweeping across several regions in the western United States, heavily straining the resources of firefighting crews.
No fatalities have been reported in the Spokane area thus far. Meanwhile, emergency teams are actively battling a massive wildfire that has torn through roughly 1,360 square kilometers of grasslands across western Idaho and eastern Oregon, threatening hundreds of homes and critical infrastructure.
