The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Algeria, Diego Mellado, confirmed on Saturday in the capital that cooperation projects are under preparation with Algeria for the years 2026 and 2027.
This statement came on the sidelines of the second edition of the "Contemporary Art Rendezvous."
Mellado highlighted the vitality of the Algerian-European partnership, noting that both parties maintain "excellent" relations. He described the partnership between the European Union and Algeria as "very rich and dense."
He noted his recent talks with the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf.
Mellado also referred to his discussions with high-level European officials and the visit of the European Commissioner for Energy to Algeria last Thursday. He highlighted that the visit coincided with the sixth meeting of the high-level political dialogue on energy between Algeria and the European Union.
The European official stated, "What is important to us are the good relations between the various member countries and Algeria," noting "the utmost importance of the excellent relations between the European community, the European Union, and Algeria."
Mellado considered Algeria a "strategic partner" for the European Union, revealing upcoming ministerial visits by high-level European officials. He also mentioned a forthcoming visit by representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) to Algeria.
"We are affirming the economic dialogue through direct discussions on the optimal way to integrate our economies," Mellado continued.
Regarding the Algeria-EU Association Agreement, Mellado emphasized the priority of strengthening trade exchanges and enabling Algerian products to enter the European market. Diego Mellado linked these efforts to facilitating European investments in Algeria.
