The Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons Receives a Delegation From the German Company "Siemens Energy"

The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, received on Tuesday a delegation from the German company "Siemens Energy", led by the Executive Vice President of Gas Services for Europe and Africa, Waheed Abbasi. The two parties examined opportunities to expand cooperation in the fields of energy and energy transition, a ministry statement indicated.

The meeting, which took place at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of several of its executives, was dedicated to examining the status and prospects of cooperation between the Sonatrach group and Siemens Energy, the same source specified.

In this context, the two parties welcomed the "advanced level of the ongoing partnership between the two companies, as well as the continuous cooperation in the fields of the oil and gas industry, gas services, energy equipment, engineering solutions, and cutting-edge technologies."

The two parties also examined opportunities to expand cooperation in the areas of energy transition, notably decarbonization, limiting gas emissions, improving energy efficiency, and developing Sonatrach's projects in the fields of low-carbon hydrogen and green ammonia, in addition to the modernization of energy infrastructure through digitization and smart technologies.

On this occasion, the Minister of State reaffirmed the importance of strengthening the partnership with Siemens Energy, which is capable of supporting Algeria's efforts in modernizing the energy industry, transferring technology and expertise, and developing national skills. This comes while simultaneously continuing the implementation of programs to reduce the carbon footprint, limit methane gas emissions, and reduce routine gas flaring operations.

For his part, Mr. Abbasi reaffirmed the German company's readiness to continue supporting development projects in Algeria's hydrocarbons sector by providing innovative solutions and advanced techniques. He also emphasized their commitment to contributing to the realization of strategic projects related to decarbonization, industrial digitization, and improving the performance of oil and gas infrastructure, the statement concluded.
