The activities of the 12th edition of the Local Inshad Festival kicked off yesterday evening, Tuesday, in Bou Saada (M'Sila) under the slogan "Inshad Values Sow the Spirit of Glories."
The opening evening, hosted at the Bou Saada Events Hall, was animated by artist Bendhabia Belalia and the Al-Nada troupe from the Wilayas of Mostaganem and Tizi Ouzou, respectively. They presented musical interludes expressing love for the homeland and religious praises.
In a statement to the media, the festival's commissioner, Mohamed Bouhali, explained that this edition sees the participation of 10 munshidins (chanters) from 6 Wilayas competing for the title of "Munshid of Bou Saada."
For his part, the Director of Culture and Arts for the Wilaya of M'Sila, Mourad Ben Aissa, considered that Bou Saada's hosting of this festival is evidence of the deep roots of this authentic artistic style in the region. He highlighted that the success of previous editions contributed to the high turnout of artists and munshidins participating in this event, which receives support from the supervising ministry, similar to other cultural activities carrying purposeful religious and societal messages.
Additionally, the President of the Municipal People's Assembly of Bou Saada, Said Ben Amar, noted the audience turnout recorded during the opening evening, which, according to him, proves the love for the art of Inshad and purposeful lyrics within the homeland generally, and the region specifically.
At the conclusion of the first evening, the families of the late artists Sofiane Zigham and Abdelkader Houari were honored, as were some veteran munshidins of the city of Bou Saada, in recognition of their contributions to the art of Inshad and purposeful lyrics.
The Delegated Wali of Bou Saada, Attal Omrani, accompanied by local authorities, oversaw the official opening of the festival, which runs until February 26.
