The Wali of Algiers, Mr. Mohamed Abdenour Rabehi, accompanied by the Minister of Culture and Arts, Ms. Malika Bendouda, conducted an inspection of development and modernization projects within the culture sector in the capital, according to a statement released by the Wilaya on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Wali of Algiers received the Minister of Culture and Arts at the Wilaya headquarters for a working session. During the meeting, a presentation was delivered regarding cultural projects integrated into the strategic vision for the capital’s development and modernization. This specifically includes the preservation and enhancement plan for the protected sector of the Casbah of Algiers, as well as the restoration and rehabilitation program for iconic historical monuments, the source added.
Following the meeting, a field visit was organized to the Citadel of Algiers in the Casbah. The visit was attended by the President of the Wilaya People’s Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Lahbib Ben Boulaïd, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Wilaya. The delegation stopped at the Dey's Palace to assess the quality of restoration and rehabilitation work, focusing on the meticulous and complex operations intended to preserve original decorative features, such as mosaics and historical engravings.
The delegation then proceeded to the Palace of the Beys within the Citadel, which was recently handed over following the completion of restoration and rehabilitation works. These efforts are part of the ongoing commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural and historical heritage of the capital.
