Several cadres and staff members responsible for archives within the institutions and administrations of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) are benefiting from a specialized training session in Tindouf. The program is organized as part of the celebration of International Archives Week, at the initiative of the General Directorate of National Archives.

The training, held at the "Ahmed Mahsas" National Public Mujahid Museum in the Moussani neighborhood from June 8 to 11, brings together officials responsible for archive management. Participants are receiving theoretical and practical instruction on the latest methods for the management, preservation, and exploitation of documents.

In a statement to the APS news agency, Asma Habib Dahou, an archivist at the General Directorate of National Archives, explained that this initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen participants' skills in managing active records and developing archival management tools. The goal is to ensure the preservation and organization of documentary heritage according to modern scientific standards.

She added that the training program includes lectures and practical workshops led by specialists in the field of archives.

The themes addressed include digital transformation, electronic document management, the development of document management schedules, and mechanisms for preserving institutional memory and enhancing documentary heritage.

The session also serves as a platform for exchanging expertise and best practices between trainers and participants, particularly regarding the development of conservation, classification, and digitization methods in line with the requirements of the digital age.

For their part, the beneficiaries from the institutions of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic expressed their satisfaction with the quality of the instruction and the curriculum provided. They emphasized that the training has enabled them to acquire practical knowledge and skills that will improve the functioning of archival services and promote a modern culture of document management within their institutions and administrations.

This initiative is part of a series of activities organized by the General Directorate of National Archives to mark International Archives Week, with events currently taking place across the Wilaya of Tindouf.
