The 17th General Cooperation Meeting between the League of Arab States and the United Nations is being held from July 27 to 29 at the UN headquarters in Geneva, within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two organizations.
The meeting brings together senior officials from both organizations, as well as representatives of their specialized institutions and agencies.
Participants will review the progress made since the 16th General Cooperation Meeting and assess the implementation of joint areas of action.
The discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation in peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, food and water security, as well as the "Women, Peace and Security" and "Youth, Peace and Security" programs, in addition to efforts to prevent armed conflicts to promote regional stability and lasting peace.
The meeting will also address major regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, as well as developments in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Libya.
This gathering reflects the commitment of both the Arab League and the UN to strengthen their strategic cooperation and coordination on matters of mutual interest, with a view to supporting international peace and security, promoting sustainable development, and responding more effectively to the challenges facing the region and the world.
