Military Cross-Country Team Returns Home After Distinguished Participation in World Championship in Greece

The national military cross-country team returned home on Monday following its distinguished participation in the 60th World Military Cross-Country Championship of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) in Greece, where it secured first place globally in the team category and second place individually, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense on Tuesday.

The ministry's statement explained that the military team "arrived Monday evening at Algiers Houari Boumediene International Airport after taking part in the 60th World Military Cross-Country Championship held in Trikala, Greece, from February 25 to March 2, 2026. With 38 countries participating, the Algerian elite squad achieved first place worldwide in the team rankings and second place in the individual category."

The national military team was received upon arrival by the Head of the Military Sports Service of the Operations and Preparation Department of the Staff of the People's National Army (ANP).

General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, had previously extended his warm congratulations to the military sports delegation for these honorable results, wishing all the athletes "further success in continuing to honor Algeria in international forums," the statement concluded.
