The Algerian senior judo national team will participate in the Upper Austria Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from March 6 to 8 in Linz. The squad consists of seven judokas (4 men and 3 women), according to information released on Wednesday by the Algerian Judo Federation (FAJ).
In the men's category, judokas Kaïs Moudetere (-66 kg), Dris Messaoud (-73 kg), Mustapha Yasser Bouamar (-100 kg), and Mohamed Lili (+100 kg) will represent Algeria at this prestigious competition. Meanwhile, Houaria Kaddour (-48 kg), Khadija Bekheira (-57 kg), and Amina Belkadi (-63 kg) will represent the women's side.
Furthermore, the Algerian national team will subsequently undergo an international training camp in the Czech Republic, scheduled from March 8 to 17, according to the same source.
The Linz tournament features the participation of 503 judokas (294 men and 209 women) representing 62 countries across six continents. This marks the first international appearance for Algerian judo since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Grand Prix tournaments are considered high-level competitions, although they rank slightly below “Grand Chelem” (Grand Slam) events in terms of points and global prestige.
As a reminder, a Grand Slam winner earns 1,000 points, while a Grand Prix winner receives 700 points in the International Judo Federation (IJF) world rankings.
