The Algerian Cycling Federation (FAC) has begun finalizing preparations for the organization of the Tour of Algeria 2026, scheduled from April 17 to 28. This was marked by an extended coordination meeting bringing together various ministerial sectors and concerned bodies, alongside security representatives, aiming to ensure comprehensive readiness for this international event, according to the federal body on Wednesday.
The meeting, attended by Federation President Kheïredine Barbari and members of the organizing committee, focused primarily on organizational, logistical, and security aspects. Emphasis was placed on the necessity of providing all conditions conducive to the tour's success, whether in terms of securing routes, welcoming participating delegations, or ensuring appropriate technical and media coverage.
During the meeting, the general program of the Tour was presented, in addition to a review of the various International Cycling Grand Prix events that Algiers will host next May. This falls within an intensive sports calendar that reinforces Algeria’s standing on the continental and international stage, according to the same source.
The federal body confirmed that this early activity reflects the organizers' keenness to present a distinguished edition of the tour, as well as the accumulated organizational expertise. It also reaffirms Algeria's capability to host major sporting events in accordance with international standards.
