Prime Minister Mr. Sifi Ghrieb officially installed Mr. Kamel Oukaci yesterday, Tuesday, as the Director General of the National Office of Statistics (ONS), according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
Prof. Oukaci holds a PhD in Economics and served as a research professor at the Faculty of Economics, Commercial and Management Sciences at the University of Bejaïa, according to the statement.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister highlighted "the imperative for a renewed vision of the statistical apparatus, aligned with the directives of the President of the Republic. This vision must now be anchored in new technologies for the production, processing, and utilization of statistics."
Furthermore, he emphasized the requirement for the territorialization of the national statistical system, as well as its interoperability, to ensure the optimal use of data in guiding public economic, social, and environmental policies, the same source added.
