On Sunday, during a speech marking World Consumer Rights Day, celebrated annually on March 15, the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif, highlighted the sector's commitment to ensuring a safe and reliable consumption environment through several practical measures that strengthen consumer rights.
In an address published by the ministry to mark World Consumer Rights Day, held this year under the theme "Safe Products, Confident Consumers," Ms. Abdellatif stated that "the protection of the Algerian consumer is not just a duty, but a national commitment that encompasses everything related to improving their daily living environment, from the supply of food products to the promotion of e-commerce, by enshrining the principles of transparency in transactions, including price displays and the quality of services."
In this regard, she added that the sector is dedicated to "ensuring a safe and reliable consumption environment through meticulous oversight, advanced laboratories, and practical measures that strengthen consumer rights and guarantee their confidence in the national market."
Consumer protection, she affirmed, constitutes "the cornerstone of the new strategy of the Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, which aims to support local products, enhance transparency, and strike a balance between consumer protection and the revitalization of the national economic sector, in accordance with the best international standards."
