The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the fraternal Republic of Iraq, Mr. Fuad Mohammad Hussein, within the framework of the Arab Ministerial Consultative Meeting and the proceedings of the resumed 165th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, today, Monday, according to a statement issued by the Ministry.
This meeting, according to the statement, constituted "an important occasion to assess the reality of the historical relations existing between Algeria and Iraq, and ways to elevate them to higher levels across all priority fields, particularly in energy and culture, while emphasizing the need to activate bilateral cooperation mechanisms, foremost of which is the Joint Committee, and to realize upcoming commitments."
In addition, "the two sides exchanged views and analyses regarding a number of international and regional issues of common interest, particularly the latest developments in the Middle East and Gulf regions, welcoming the conclusion of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States of America given its positive impact on maintaining regional peace and security," the Ministry's statement added.
