Commissioned by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, arrived this Monday in the Republic of Niger for an official visit at the head of a large ministerial delegation, indicates a press release from the Prime Minister's services, specifying that "this visit falls within the framework of holding the second session of the Algerian-Nigerien High Joint Commission for Cooperation."

According to the same source, the Prime Minister was welcomed upon his arrival at Niamey International Airport by his Nigerien counterpart, Ali Lamine Zeine.

"This visit is part of the dynamic of strengthening fraternal relations and cooperation between the two countries. It constitutes an opportunity to intensify bilateral political consultation at the highest level and consolidate the strategic partnership in service of regional and continental integration goals," the press release added, indicating that "it also reflects Algeria's desire, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to strengthen its role as a central actor in supporting the African integration process, building on its historical commitment to the causes of the continent and solidarity among its peoples."

It is expected, the same source added, that this visit will "give new impetus to multidimensional bilateral cooperation, notably through accelerating the implementation of common strategic projects with a regional dimension, such as the Trans-Saharan Highway, the fiber optic link project, and the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline project," as it also aims "to strengthen the partnership in the fields of security and energy, particularly hydrocarbons and renewable energies."

What is on the Prime Minister's Agenda in Niamey

According to the Prime Minister's agenda, this visit plans for "the expansion of cooperation to other vital sectors, notably finance, agriculture, industry, the pharmaceutical industry, health, infrastructure, higher education, and vocational training."

Furthermore, several agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed on this occasion in order to elevate economic and commercial relations between the two countries to a higher level. Meanwhile, an Algerian-Nigerien Business Forum will be organized, with the participation of economic actors from the public and private sectors, aiming to explore investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic partnerships.

Moreover, the press release emphasizes, "this visit thus reaffirms the depth and solidity of relations between Algeria and the Republic of Niger, founded on the principles of good neighborliness and solidarity, in a context of the shared desire of the leaders of both countries to promote a renewed dynamic of cooperation in the service of mutual interests and the strengthening of regional and continental integration."
