The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Kamel Baddari, presided on Monday at the Sidi Abdellah Scientific and Technological Hub (Algiers) over the graduation ceremony of two cohorts from the National Higher School of Mathematics (NHSM) and the National Higher School of Artificial Intelligence (ENSIA). The two graduating cohorts consist of 105 students from ENSIA and 50 students from NHSM.
In his speech delivered on this occasion, Mr. Baddari considered that the graduation of these two cohorts "is the fruit of five years of training and hard work." He noted that this reflects "the high level achieved by the students, thanks to their efforts and the supervision of their teachers," emphasizing that the presence of representatives from national institutions and companies at this ceremony testifies to "the increased demand for graduates from these two schools, given the skills and competencies they have acquired, which Algeria needs in various fields."
The graduation of these two cohorts embodies the "forward-looking vision" of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at "training competencies capable of keeping pace with technological and scientific transformations and building the knowledge economy." He recalled, in this regard, that the creation of these two institutions in 2021 occurred "in anticipation of Algeria's future needs in the fields of artificial intelligence and mathematics."
For his part, the director of ENSIA, Abdelmalek Bachir, affirmed that the past five years have proven "the relevance of this orientation," insisting that "investing in excellence is an investment in the country's future."
He also announced that the school will begin, starting next year, "a new phase with the launch of a scientific research laboratory and the reception of the first cohort of doctoral students, which will strengthen its status as an institution combining training, scientific research, and innovation."
For his part, the director of NHSM, Ahmed Medeghri, indicated that the graduation of the institution's first cohort of students reflects the "long-term vision" of the President of the Republic. He emphasized that the creation of this school comes "in response to the unbridled digital metamorphoses and Algeria's need to train engineers capable of keeping up with technological progress."
Affirming that NHSM "attracts the best mathematics students while focusing on the use of modern scientific tools to address future challenges," Mr. Medeghri noted that "after graduation, students will be able to pursue their doctoral studies within the scientific research laboratory that has been created at the school."
The same official revealed on this occasion that work is underway, in coordination with economic partners, to "create new specialties, including hydrocarbon mathematics, in addition to a project to launch specialties in partnership with the insurance sector, capable of meeting the needs of the labor market."
The meeting was punctuated by the awarding of the top-ranking students of the cohort, as well as the winners of international scientific and sporting competitions, along with certain start-ups.
