The Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies announced, in a statement released this Tuesday, the establishment of Sonelgaz International. The Ministry specified that this new energy entity is part of the “implementation of the strategic directives of President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at consolidating a diversified national economy integrated into regional and international dynamics”.
According to the same source, this new entity, operating under the aegis of the Sonelgaz Group, is part of a strategic approach designed to accompany the mutations in the energy sector and to strengthen Algeria's presence on the international stage. The statement emphasized that “the creation of Sonelgaz International comes in a context marked by increased dynamics in the sector, particularly in the export of services and expertise”.
The objective is to enable the Sonelgaz Group “to develop its activities beyond national borders,” while leveraging its expertise and consolidating Algeria's position as a reliable and influential energy partner on both regional and global scales. The Ministry's statement added that the new company’s “primary mission will be to promote the group's activities abroad, particularly across African markets and the Mediterranean region”.
Furthermore, it will work toward “identifying investment and cooperation opportunities while developing strategic partnerships”. Its scope will cover several fields, including technical studies, project execution, operation, maintenance, as well as training and the transfer of skills.
