China stressed that the Palestinian issue must not once again be relegated to the background, calling on the international community to take "irreversible measures" to advance the two-state solution and support the prompt creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Speaking on Tuesday during a UN Security Council briefing on the Palestinian issue, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, stated that "the Palestinian question is deteriorating at an accelerated pace, and the foundations of the two-state solution risk being further eroded."

He added that "faced with this grave situation, the international community must demonstrate strong political will and take decisive measures to achieve, as soon as possible, a comprehensive, just, and lasting solution to the Palestinian question."

In this regard, the Chinese diplomat called for prioritizing human life and putting an immediate end to the suffering of the population in the Gaza Strip.

The situation in the Palestinian enclave "touches the very foundations of international morality," he continued, notably calling on the Zionist entity to fully respect the ceasefire agreement and to achieve a genuine, comprehensive, and lasting ceasefire.

The Zionist entity "must respect its obligations under international humanitarian law, fully open border crossings, lift restrictions on humanitarian access, and cease attacks against humanitarian organizations, particularly UNRWA," emphasized China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
