The National Library of Algeria, in coordination with the National Cultural Association Irtiqaa, is organizing the 2nd National Seminar entitled: “The Children's Literature Industry in Algeria: Reality and Challenges”. The two-day event begins this Wednesday at the National Library, marking International Children's Book Day, celebrated annually on April 2nd.

The seminar will feature prominent cultural figures, with the Mujahid and creator Abdallah Athamnia as the guest of honor, in recognition of his distinguished career and contributions.

The seminar features a series of presentations addressing the importance of investing in children's culture as a fundamental pillar for building national identity, with the participation of professors and researchers from various Algerian universities.

In the same context, an academic program has been outlined, covering conceptual frameworks and aesthetic functions. It will also explore the historical and academic milestones of children's literature in Algeria, alongside literature in the digital age, AI narratives, and the challenges of virtual worlds.

Speakers will also focus on the pedagogical and educational dimensions, highlighting the role of literature in instilling moral and social values.

The seminar will also dedicate space for live testimonies from authors and creators such as Rabah Khidoussi and Hocine Abrous. They will share their experiences in writing for children, navigating the balance between creative challenges and the demands of the cultural industry.

This literary event will feature diverse field activities, including a children's book fair showcasing the latest publications for youth. Additionally, workshops and children's activities will be organized, aiming to connect children with books in an entertaining and creative atmosphere.
