Algerian champion Kaylia Nemour has mathematically secured the top position in the overall standings for both the uneven bars and balance beam in the 2026 Gymnastics World Cup.
This achievement comes ahead of the fifth and final stage, scheduled from this Thursday to Sunday in Osijek, Croatia. Thanks to her double gold in the Cairo stage, it is now impossible for any competitor to catch the 19-year-old Algerian Olympic champion in the overall rankings for these two apparatuses.
This milestone underscores the dominance of the Paris 2024 Olympic champion on the global stage this season. Nemour was crowned with the uneven bars title with a score of 14.033, before clinching gold on the balance beam with 14.266. These achievements bring her tally to three gold and two silver medals this year, continuing her consistent performance at the highest level.
In contrast, the race remains open for the vault and floor exercise titles, where Panamanian gymnast Hillary Heron still holds her chances. A strong performance in Croatia could allow her to take the lead in these two specialties.
The Osijek leg will be the final opportunity for gymnasts to improve their overall rankings before the conclusion of the series. The Doha stage, originally scheduled for mid-April, was cancelled due to the situation in the Middle East.
Kaylia Nemour will next participate in the African Championships, set to begin on April 21 in Cameroon, where she aims to further solidify her status as one of the preeminent stars of gymnastics continentally and globally.
