The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, ordered on Sunday, while chairing a meeting of the Council of Ministers, the commencement of phosphate exports from the Bled El Hadba mine by March 2027 "at the latest."

According to a statement from the Council of Ministers, the President of the Republic, after congratulating the new Minister of Mines on his appointment, tasked him with "working toward reaching the phosphate export stage by March 2027 at the latest." This goal is considered one of the highest current economic priorities in the sector, especially as the construction of the mining pier, part of the Annaba port expansion, is set to conclude by the same date.

The President reminded the Council and the Minister that Algeria's current and future economic plan aims to "transform the mining sector into a vital wealth-generating sector and a driver to achieve a break from hydrocarbon dependency."

In the same context, the President of the Republic ordered the immediate launch of construction for raw material processing units at the Bled El Hadba phosphate mine, in parallel with the mine's exploitation. He also directed the immediate start of building storage facilities for urea and ammonia according to international technical standards, given their specific storage requirements.

Regarding the mining pier at the port of Annaba, the President ordered the strengthening of the Algerian-Chinese partnership in the field of port construction, expansion, and dredging to build the mining pier, with works scheduled for completion by the end of March 2027.

On the Southern Railway project, which will connect Algiers, Laghouat, Ghardaïa, El Meniaa, In Salah, and Tamanrasset, slated to enter service by the end of 2028, the President directed the government to focus its efforts on realizing this "New Bet of the Century." This project is considered no less significant than the Gara Djebilet project, the statement added.
