The President of the High Authority for Transparency, Prevention and Combatting of Corruption, Mrs. Salima Mesrati, received on Tuesday in Algiers, the Coordinator of the Regional Program on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Mrs. Mona Salem, according to a statement issued by the Authority.

During this meeting, held in the presence of officials from both sides, Mrs. Mesrati praised “the role played by the Office, particularly in supporting the efforts of the region's countries in the field of anti-corruption.”

She also emphasized that Algeria “has intensified its efforts in recent years, in coordination with various sectors and institutions, to curb the phenomenon of corruption,” highlighting in this context the role of the High Authority through “overseeing the implementation of the National Strategy for Transparency, Prevention and Combatting of Corruption, launching various programs and initiatives, and intensifying training operations for the benefit of cadres and public officials.”

In the same context, she explained that “the coming phase will witness the issuance of the regulatory text related to transparency systems, which will constitute an integrated framework of measures and procedures aimed at strengthening the principles of transparency, integrity, and accountability, and promoting good governance mechanisms in the management of public affairs.”

For her part, the Coordinator of the Regional Program on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes commended “the efforts of the High Authority,”' emphasizing “the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the future between the two parties, in light of the shared will to support initiatives of common interest in the field of prevention and combatting of corruption.”
