Former Minister and Senator Chems-Eddine Chitour Laid to Rest in Algiers

The remains of the member of the Council of the Nation and former Minister, Chems-Eddine Chitour, who passed away at the age of 82, were laid to rest on Monday afternoon at the Baba Hassen cemetery in the Wilaya of Algiers.

The funeral ceremony took place in the presence of the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nacéri, several members of the government, as well as the family and colleagues of the deceased.

In a funeral oration, the head of the Parliamentary Group of the Presidential Third in the Council of the Nation, Mr. Saâd Arrous, praised the virtues and the career of the late Chitour, describing it as "rich in dedication to higher education, government action, and public service." He further highlighted the deceased's significant contributions to "promoting scientific research and defending national causes."

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had extended his sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased on Sunday. The President noted that the late Chems-Eddine Chitour "was distinguished by his academic contributions and research, which have become university references utilized by students and specialists in universities and research centers."
