Chadian President: My visit reflects a political will to transition from traditional friendship to strategic partnership

The President of the Republic of Chad, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, affirmed today, Wednesday, in Algiers, that his visit reflects a clear political will from both countries to transition from traditional friendship to a strategic partnership.

In a statement to the press following the signing ceremony of several agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), co-presided over with the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Chadian President stated: "My presence in Algeria, only seven months after my last visit, reflects a clear political will of the two countries to move from a traditional friendship to a strategic partnership of a new generation."

He emphasized that Algeria and Chad "are not linked by mere coincidence," but rather "share a historical depth resulting from a political vision formulated by the founding fathers."

In this context, he expressed his "deep satisfaction" and "brotherly emotion" at the conclusion of his visit to Algeria, which he described as a "historical turning point" in bilateral relations.

Regarding the convening of the Algerian-Chadian Mixed Commission yesterday, Tuesday, in Algiers, "after more than a decade," the Chadian President considered it "a true new start in the deep exploration of all cooperation opportunities."

He noted that the two countries had signed "important agreements based on four strategic pillars: knowledge, resource transformation, economic integration, and security."

The Chadian President also pointed out that "the message we are sending today is that of an Africa that refuses marginalization," stressing that "the successful launch of the air route between Algiers and N’Djamena, achieved in record time, must serve as a model to be followed."

In this regard, he affirmed that Algeria and Chad have established the "foundations for exemplary South-South cooperation, showing that the two countries represent the driving force for a stable, integrated, and prosperous Sahel-Saharan region."
