A first group of 247 pilgrims from six eastern provinces departed Monday afternoon from Mohamed Boudiaf International Airport in Constantine, heading for the Holy Sites to perform Hajj rituals for the 1447 AH, 2026 AD season.

The acting local director of Religious Affairs and Wakfs, Abdelhakim Khalfaoui, stated that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure optimal care for the pilgrims, who hail from the provinces of Constantine, Mila, Sétif, Oum El Bouaghi, Jijel, and Skikda.

He added that the flight program for pilgrims from these provinces, which runs until May 21, includes 17 flights serving a total of 5,549 pilgrims, 1,016 of whom are from the province of Constantine.

Several pilgrims on this first flight expressed their immense joy at traveling to the Holy Sites to perform their religious duties, praising the efforts and resources mobilized by local authorities to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

Notably, volunteers from the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) and the Algerian Muslim Scouts (SMA) were present to assist the pilgrims, particularly the elderly, from their arrival at the airport until the completion of all travel procedures.
