The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, discussed with the European Commissioner for Mediterranean Affairs, Dubravka Šuica—who is on a working visit to Algeria at the head of a high-level delegation—the strengthening of cooperation and partnership, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and energy efficiency, according to a ministry statement.

During the meeting, which took place yesterday, Monday, at the Ministry's headquarters in the presence of its senior officials, the two parties discussed cooperation opportunities aimed at developing the Mediterranean region, particularly in the fields of energy and renewable energy. They emphasized “the necessity of intensifying and strengthening regional cooperation, especially at the Mediterranean level, and developing partnership projects in the fields of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and energy efficiency.”

Cooperation projects currently under study with European partners were also discussed, such as the project to establish an electrical interconnection line between Algeria and Italy, and the project for the production and export of green hydrogen to Europe (South2 Corridor). These projects “will enhance energy exchanges between the two shores of the Mediterranean and consolidate Algeria's role as a secure and reliable energy supplier in the region,” the statement added.

During the meeting, Mr. Adjal emphasized “the importance that Algeria attaches to these projects, which constitute a fundamental basis for fruitful cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean.”
