The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, participated Thursday in New York in the International Migration Review Forum. On this occasion, he presented Algeria's vision, which is based on enshrining a developmental and humanitarian approach to addressing migration issues and the movement of persons, in light of current international challenges and transformations, according to a ministry statement.

The statement explained that Mr. Chaib emphasized, in his speech on this occasion, that "in accordance with the vision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria places comprehensive development and respect for human dignity at the core of its national strategy." He added that this stems from a "firm conviction that the sustainable management of the migration phenomenon requires addressing its root causes by supporting economic and social stability and enhancing development opportunities."

The Secretary of State further highlighted that "Algeria adopts a comprehensive and balanced approach in dealing with migration issues, based on reconciling humanitarian, developmental, and security requirements, within the framework of respecting state sovereignty and the provisions of international law."

Concluding his speech, the Secretary of State emphasized—according to the ministry statement—that "migration issues remain a collective international responsibility that necessitates strengthening solidarity and multilateral international cooperation. This is essential to ensure the realization of sustainable development goals and to guarantee dignified and humane treatment for migrants, in consecration of the values of justice and human solidarity that should frame joint international action in this field."
