Yesterday, Friday, the commercial Port of Mostaganem successfully shipped over 13,000 tons of non-hydrocarbon exports in record time, according to a statement issued today, Saturday, by the Directorate General of the port authority.
The port recorded a high-quality operational achievement—according to the same statement—by loading three commercial vessels across three different berths simultaneously within a single day.
These notable export operations included 6,900 tons of cement packed in jumbo bags, 3,500 tons of construction rebar, and 3,000 tons of olive stones, the statement added.
To achieve this achievement, the institution mobilized all of its material, human, and logistical resources, relying on a tight organization and precise coordination among the various actors within the port. This allowed for a highly fluid shipping process and a yield that reflects the efficiency and professionalism of the field teams at work, the same source added.
The process of handling and simultaneously shipping three commercial cargoes at once falls within the context of the continuous dynamic witnessed by the port. This aligns with the directives of the line ministry, which aim to upgrade port performance, boost competitiveness, and provide high-quality support to economic operators, particularly those active in the field of non-hydrocarbon exports.
Through ongoing and future projects, the Port of Mostaganem is counting on transforming into a regional and national strategic hub to support non-hydrocarbon exports and facilitate the access of Algerian products to international markets, the same statement added.
In parallel with the escalating pace of commercial activity, this institution has recently benefited from extensive operations to upgrade and modernize two berths, construct a container logistics platform, and acquire a modern passenger screening device at the maritime terminal. This is in addition to a study for the upcoming expansion of the port through the construction of a third basin, which will allow for the reception and handling of large-scale vessels, as previously noted.
