The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, received on Wednesday in Algiers a delegation from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a prominent U.S.-based think tank, to discuss several energy-related issues, according to a ministry statement.
The meeting, held at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of senior officials and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, focused on the current status and future prospects of the Algerian energy system, the statement added.
During the audience, Mr. Adjal highlighted the vital role of energy in achieving socio-economic development. He showcased Algeria's extensive expertise across the entire energy value chain, from the production of electricity and gas to their transmission and distribution, as well as the country’s significant potential in electrical industries, training, and engineering.
The Minister also emphasized the State’s strategic shift toward investing in renewable and clean energy, specifically noting the national project to produce 15,000 MW by 2035, currently being implemented by the sector.
Furthermore, he discussed electricity interconnection projects with Europe and the development of the Green Hydrogen project, stating that these indicators solidify Algeria’s position as a "reliable and active partner" in the global energy landscape.
For its part, the American delegation expressed strong interest in the Algerian experience across various energy fields, raising several inquiries regarding the sector's current dynamics and future outlook.
In conclusion, Mr. Adjal reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening its status as a strategic partner, backed by the significant achievements made by national competencies in this field, the same source concluded.
