The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired a working meeting today dedicated to structural projects in the hydrocarbons sector.
The meeting addressed the phosphorous fertilizer production complex project, as well as the integrated phosphate project for the production of ammonia and urea, alongside the production of phosphorous and nitrogenous fertilizers.
In this context, the integrated phosphate project will enter production during the first quarter of 2027, coinciding with the completion of the Annaba port expansion project and its readiness to export the first shipments of phosphate during the same period.
The meeting also discussed the financing of the Algiers–Tamanrasset railway project, where it was decided to commence works, at the latest, during this coming September. The project will be executed across three major work zones:
The First Zone: Ouargla – In Salah
The Second Zone: In Salah – Tamanrasset
The Third Zone: Tamanrasset – In Salah
The meeting was attended by Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, the Prime Minister; Mr. Brahim Merad, Minister of State in charge of the General Inspectorate of State Services and Local Communities; Mr. Mohamed Arkab, Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons; Mr. Abdelkrim Bouzred, Minister of Finance; Mr. Mohamed Lamine Lebbou, Governor of the Bank of Algeria; and Mr. Noureddine Daoudi, Chief Executive Officer of the Sonatrach Group.
