The Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, was received today, Monday, June 1, 2026, in Muscat, by the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense.
The same source explained that "during the second day of his visit to the fraternal Sultanate of Oman, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, was received today, Monday, June 1, 2026, in Muscat, by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs.”
On this occasion, "the General expressed his deep gratitude for the warm reception he received from His Highness, conveying to him the greetings of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, who wishes the Sultanate of Oman, government and people, all success and further development, progress, and prosperity under the umbrella of security and stability."
The meeting provided "an opportunity for the General to discuss with His Highness the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them from a forward-looking perspective that takes into account the supreme interests of the two peoples and the historical and fraternal ties that unite them."
Furthermore, "General Saïd Chanegriha, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, was received at Muaskar Al Murtafa'a by His Excellency Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces."
Following the military honors ceremony, the General held "a fraternal meeting with His Excellency Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces, during which both sides reviewed the status of bilateral military cooperation and ways to develop it to the level of the excellent relations binding Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman, elevating it to fulfill the aspirations of the leaders of the two fraternal countries."
On this occasion, the General delivered a speech in which he expressed his "appreciation for the invitation extended to him to visit the Sultanate of Oman," while praising "the level of Algerian-Omani relations in recent years, which have consistently experienced strong momentum and a remarkable dynamism."
In this regard, he stated: "The historical relations binding Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman have long been characterized by sincere brotherhood, a shared belonging and destiny, and alignment on issues of common interest."
He added: "These relations have recently witnessed a powerful impetus and distinctive dynamism, driven by the genuine will of the leaders of both countries—a will reflected in the exchange of high-level visits and the shaping of a promising strategic partnership."
He continued, saying: "Our presence today also stands as the greatest evidence of the utmost importance we attach in Algeria to strengthening the bonds of partnership and cooperation with the Omani Armed Forces, particularly regarding the exchange of expertise and experiences in the fields of defense and security."
For his part, the Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces praised "the level of bilateral military cooperation relations between the two countries," expressing his "appreciation to the General for accepting the invitation," according to the statement from the Ministry of National Defence.
