The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirmed his commitment to continue raising wages, retirement pensions, and the guaranteed national minimum wage (SNMG), emphasizing that these measures will be implemented gradually to maintain economic balance and control inflation.

During his periodic media interview with representatives of the national press, broadcast yesterday evening (Monday) across national television and radio channels, the President recalled that he had previously approved two increases in the guaranteed national minimum wage, describing its current level as "acceptable," before announcing plans for a new increase.

In this regard, he explained that these increases "must take place without causing an inflation of the money supply that could fuel price rises," pointing out that the objective is to "control the injection of funds into the economy so that it reflects positively on growth and purchasing power," promising: "I commit to achieving this starting in 2027."

The President also recalled the social measures taken since 2019, notably the exemption of wages equal to or below 30,000 DA from the Personal Income Tax (IRG), a 47% overall wage increase, alongside two separate upward revisions of retirement pensions.

Furthermore, the President stressed that public authorities "continue to fight corrupt money alongside efforts to gradually improve citizens' incomes."

He also noted that other social files will be examined, particularly increasing student grants, explaining that their realization "will remain tied to the improvement of economic performance."

In this context, he highlighted that the results achieved through boosting national production and reducing the import bill for certain strategic products "will contribute to increasing State revenues, which should ultimately reflect on citizens' incomes."
