The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed that Algeria will never harm its neighbors, emphasizing that terrorism is neither an inherent legacy nor an inevitable fate in Africa.
During his periodic interview with representatives of the national media, broadcast on Monday evening, the President stressed: "I can tell you one thing, and Algerians can be proud of it: their country will never harm its neighbors."
He further explained that terrorism is not a "legacy" in Africa, nor is it an "inevitable fate," emphasizing that this phenomenon was artificially orchestrated on the continent.
In this context, he asserted: "Those who created terrorism and their accomplices are the very same ones who claim they want to help Malians resolve the problem of terrorism," highlighting the centuries-old bonds of brotherhood and good-neighborliness between Algeria and Mali.
The President also addressed the terrorist threat currently facing Tunisia, stating: "They want to destabilize Tunisia because of Algeria, and they want to isolate it from Algeria so that it becomes easy prey, but we will not allow them to do so." He added: "Whoever touches Tunisia touches us."
Furthermore, the President touched upon Algeria's desire to contribute to resolving several issues in the Middle East, emphasizing that Algeria stands in the same trench with countries such as Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whereas, as the President noted, a "microstate" continues to stir up unrest in certain countries.
In another context, the President expressed his satisfaction with the level of relations with European nations, describing them as "normal relations," while reiterating the importance of reviewing the Partnership Agreement binding Algeria with the European Union.
