The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Mr. Sid Ali Zerrouki, oversaw this Sunday the ceremony for issuing two new commemorative postage stamps. The release honors key figures of the Algerian nation and highlights the humanitarian and cultural values championed by Algeria, according to a statement from the ministry.
The same source explained that the first postage stamp commemorates the late President and Mujahid Liamine Zeroual, "in recognition of his national career and contributions to serving the Algerian state during a pivotal phase of its history, and in appreciation of the lasting impact he left on the path of building the Republic's institutions."
The second postage stamp, themed "Living Together," recalls the historic visit of Pope Leo XIV to Algeria. It "embodies the values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence between religions and cultures—a message that Algeria has consistently carried and championed throughout its history," the statement added.
On this occasion, Mr. Zerrouki emphasized that the postage stamp remains "an excellent cultural and documentary symbol that preserves national memory and conveys Algeria's messages and values to the world." He noted that these new releases serve to "document the milestones, figures, and events that have shaped part of both national and human history."
