The Algerian Football Federation announced today, Sunday, on its official website, the contract extension of national team coach Vladimir Petković, along with his technical staff, until July 31, 2028.

The federal body explained in its statement that "coach Vladimir Petković and the members of his technical staff—comprising assistant coach Davide Morandi, goalkeeping coach Guido Nanni, and fitness coach Paolo Rongoni—will continue their duties for the next two years."

Since his appointment at the helm of the "Fennecs" technical staff on February 29, 2024, the Swiss tactician has achieved an impressive record, leading the team in 28 matches, securing 21 wins against 4 draws and only 3 defeats, with 67 goals scored and 22 goals conceded.

Under the leadership of Vladimir Petković, the national team secured its qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals, putting an end to its absence from the 2018 and 2022 editions. The team also reached the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following two consecutive group-stage exits in the 2021 and 2023 editions.

This progress was also reflected in the FIFA World Ranking; Algeria was ranked 43rd globally and 7th in Africa when he took over, before the "Fennecs" climbed to 28th globally and 4th continentally.

The Algerian Football Federation concluded its statement by emphasizing that this extension reflects its commitment to ensuring stability and continuity at the helm of the national team, serving the ambitions of Algerian football during upcoming international competitions.
