Algiers to Host 3rd Edition of the Capital Sports Festival from June 18 to 20

The Wilaya of Algiers will host the 3rd edition of the Capital Sports Festival from June 18 to 20, 2026, under the patronage of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport. This major sporting event aims to promote a culture of physical activity and bring sports closer to all segments of society, according to a statement from the Wilaya. 

The Wilaya of Algiers revealed that this edition builds on the success of the two previous editions, with a richer and more diverse program focused on sport as a tool for social inclusion, improving quality of life, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The festival’s activities will take place across several key hubs distributed throughout the capital, including the Jardin d’Essai du Hamma, the Bab El Oued waterfront, Oued Smar Park, Bab Ezzouar Urban Park, Ben Aknoun Civic Harmony Park, Parc des Sablettes, Riadh El Feth, and Dounia Park, allowing activities to be brought closer to residents across the city's municipalities.

The festival will feature a comprehensive program including competitions, sports displays, recreational activities, educational and awareness workshops, as well as dedicated spaces for children, youth, and families. A "Your Health First" space will also be set up, hosting doctors, nutritionists, and sports coaches to provide free advice and health check-ups aimed at raising awareness of the importance of physical activity and preventive health.

Among the key new features of this year’s edition is the launch of the "SportAl" application, allowing citizens to explore the various events and available sports facilities, thereby expanding the reach of sports practice and extending the festival’s impact throughout the year.

The event will also take on an international dimension with the participation of representatives, partners, and guests from several friendly countries, aimed at exchanging expertise and promoting the values of sport, youth, and friendship among peoples.

The 3rd edition is held under the theme "Joy Unites Us", an open invitation to residents and visitors of the capital to discover a wide range of sporting activities and take part in a festive atmosphere combining movement, health, and entertainment.
