The Secretary of State to the Minister of Mines and Mining Industries, Karima Bakir Tafer, began a working and inspection visit on Monday in the wilaya of Tindouf. The visit aims to review the progress of exploitation at the Gara Djebilet iron ore deposit and the primary iron ore treatment unit of the National Iron and Steel Company (FERAAL), which is currently in its final phase before entering service.
During this visit, which is part of the field monitoring of structural and strategic mining projects, Ms. Bakir will witness the initial experimental commissioning phase of the treatment unit. This follows the completion of assembly work and the powering up of the facility for dry runs (no-load tests), which will be followed by load tests before the project gradually enters the production phase, according to a statement from the Ministry of Mines and Mining Industries.
On the sidelines of this two-day visit, the Secretary of State will also hold meetings with local authorities to examine the measures in place to ensure the effective launch of the primary treatment unit project. This project is expected to have a significant impact on job creation for the region’s youth and provide new investment opportunities within the wilaya, the same source specified.
