The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, received yesterday, Monday, in Algiers, a delegation from the Downstream Petroleum Sector Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Chad, led by the Authority's Director General, Mr. Hassan Adoum Younousmi, according to a statement by the ministry.

This meeting, which took place at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of its officials and the President of the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH), Mr. Amine Remini, comes within the framework of strengthening Algerian-Chadian cooperation relations in the hydrocarbons sector. It also aims to follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of the bilateral agreements and understandings reached between the two countries recently, particularly in the fields of regulation, control, and the development of hydrocarbons activities throughout the value chain.

During the meeting, Mr. Arkab praised the distinguished level of fraternal and historical relations uniting Algeria and Chad. He emphasized Algeria's keenness, under the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to strengthen cooperation and partnership with fraternal African nations within the framework of South-South cooperation, and to exchange expertise and experiences to serve the goals of sustainable development and African integration, the statement explained.

The two parties also reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the Algerian Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH) and the Downstream Petroleum Sector Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Chad. This includes, in particular, the fields of regulating downstream hydrocarbon activities, developing energy infrastructure, refining, storage, and the distribution of petroleum products, alongside industrial safety, environmental protection, digitalization, governance, and quality control of petroleum products.

This visit falls within the framework of implementing the cooperation protocol signed between the Algerian Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority and its Chadian counterpart last April in Algiers, which aims to strengthen technical and institutional cooperation and exchange expertise and knowledge between the two bodies.

In this context, the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority is hosting a delegation from the Downstream Petroleum Sector Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Chad from June 11 to 17. The visit's program includes organizing joint technical workshops bringing together experts and officials from both institutions, alongside field visits to a number of industrial and logistical facilities belonging to the hydrocarbons sector, with the aim of exploring the Algerian experience and benefiting from the best practices adopted in the fields of refining, storage, distribution, and the regulation of downstream activities.

On this occasion, Mr. Arkab emphasized Algeria's readiness to continue accompanying the Republic of Chad in developing its energy sector by sharing the extensive expertise and experience of Algerian institutions—led by Sonatrach, the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority, and the Algerian Petroleum Institute (IAP). This will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of Chadian talents and supporting their strategic projects, according to the same source.
