The Minister of Tourism and Handicraft, Houria Meddahi, revealed her sector's action plan for the 2026–2028 period, which aims to attract 8 million tourists. She highlighted that achieving this goal is primarily linked to providing qualified human resources, according to a ministry statement released this Thursday.

While presiding over a graduation ceremony for bachelor's and master's students at the Higher School of Hospitality and Catering on Wednesday, Ms. Meddahi stated that "the tourism sector is experiencing continuous positive momentum in line with the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at making tourism a fundamental pillar for economic diversification and building a tourism model based on national assets."

She added that this plan "aims to attract 8 million tourists through the development of domestic tourism and the improvement of accommodation conditions," noting that this goal "is fundamentally tied to the provision of qualified human resources capable of delivering modern services that meet tourists' expectations."

The Minister explained that "the efforts made, in coordination and partnership with several sectors and bodies, have enabled the training of more than 4,000 tour guides, 1,200 artisans, and over 900 managers of hotel establishments and travel and tourism agencies during the first half of the current year." She emphasized that "specialized training has become an absolute necessity to keep pace with transformations and build a strong, sustainable tourism industry."

The Minister also called on the owners of hotel and tourism establishments to "support graduating young talents and provide them with opportunities for professional integration."
