The Minister of National Education, Mr. Mohamed Seghir Saâdaoui, congratulated today, Saturday, the members of the Algerian national education team participating in the 2026 Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad, following their crowning with the first place in Africa, alongside the crowning of student Alaa Yahia with the title of "African Queen of Mathematics."
The congratulatory message stated that the Minister of National Education extends his "warmest congratulations and sincerest feelings of pride and honor to the members of the Algerian national education team participating in the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO 2026), which was hosted by the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire from June 26 to July 4, 2026, following their achievement of a historic feat by crowning Algeria with the first place in Africa after winning nine (9) medals and securing two perfect scores, alongside the crowning of student Yahia Alaa with the title of African Queen of Mathematics."
In the same context, the Minister praised the crowned students: Abolghasemi Kian, who won a gold medal with a perfect score; Si Ahmed Abderrahmane, who won a gold medal with a perfect score; Tebib Mohamed Ikbal, who won a gold medal; Yahia Alaa, who was crowned with a gold medal, a gold medal in the girls' category, and the title of African Queen of Mathematics; Benyounes Fairouz, who was crowned with a silver medal and a gold medal in the girls' category; and Harnane Layane, who was crowned with a silver medal and a silver medal in the girls' category.
This crowning is "proof of the excellence of the Algerian school and its capacity to prepare promising scientific talents, capable of worthily representing Algeria and raising its flag high in continental and international scientific forums."
