The President of the Republic Presides Over the Annual Ceremony for Awarding Ranks and Medals

The President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, presided on Saturday at the People's Palace (Algiers) over the ceremony for awarding ranks and medals to a number of general officers, senior officers, and civilian personnel. This event is part of the commemorative festivities for the 64th anniversary of independence and the recovery of national sovereignty, indicated a statement from the Ministry of National Defense (MND).

"The President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Minister of National Defense, presided this Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the People's Palace, over the ceremony for awarding ranks and medals to a number of general officers, senior officers, and civilian personnel, as part of the commemorative festivities of the 64th anniversary of independence and the recovery of national sovereignty," the same source specified.

At the beginning of this ceremony, the President of the Republic, accompanied by the General of the Army, oversaw the rank-awarding ceremony, which involved "the promotion of a number of Generals to the rank of Major General, Colonels to the rank of General, as well as promotions within the category of senior officers," the statement noted.

Furthermore, "medals were also awarded to a number of military executives and civilian personnel," the same source added.

Taking part in this ceremony were the President of the Council of the Nation, the President of the National People's Assembly, the Prime Minister, the President of the Constitutional Court, members of the government and advisors to the President of the Republic, the Director General of the National Institute of Global Strategy Studies, the Lieutenant General Commander of the Land Forces, the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense, the Force Commanders, the Chief of Staff at the Ministry of National Defense, the Heads of Departments, and the directors and heads of central services of the Ministry of National Defense and the People's National Army (PNA) General Staff, the same source noted.

On this occasion, the General of the Army, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defense and Chief of Staff of the PNA, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that "the organization of this solemn ceremony, at the heart of the celebrations of the sixty-fourth anniversary of Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty, illustrates the solid bond that unites the ANP, worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, to its past rich in glories and great deeds."

"On this happy occasion, I have the honor to express to you, Mr. President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, on my own behalf and on behalf of all PNA personnel, our most sincere thanks and gratitude for kindly presiding over the ceremony for awarding ranks and medals to ANP executives," the General of the Army affirmed.

"This high mark of consideration reflects the special interest you take in our valiant army, as well as in its executives and personnel. It constitutes, without a doubt, a motivation that will encourage us to redouble our efforts to continue the modernization process of our forces in all fields and at all levels," he added.

"This solemn ceremony, which is at the heart of the celebrations of the sixty-fourth anniversary of Independence Day and the recovery of national sovereignty, illustrates the solid bond that unites the People's National Army, worthy heir to the National Liberation Army, to the rich past of our country, marked by glory and great deeds. It also testifies to our determination to fiercely defend the legacy of the martyrs and to strengthen the systemic resilience of Algeria, a land of dignity," emphasized the General of the Army.

"This historic date will remain a source of inspiration for our Army, which will continue to fulfill its constitutional missions under the high leadership of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, and in the spirit of its republican convictions, as well as the foundations of the glorious November 1st Revolution and the values of its valiant Shuhada (martyrs). In accomplishing these noble missions, our Army carries within it the conscience of a people forged by revolutions and capable of surpassing the limits of the impossible, and asserts itself as a proud branch, perpetually nourished by the memory of its roots," he noted, adding that "Algeria, strengthened by the eternal bond that attaches it to its glorious history, has been able to trace, with confidence, resolve, and sovereignty in its positions and decisions, the contours of a promising future and to occupy its rightful place within the community of nations."

"It is in the spirit of this eternal bond and thanks to the enlightened policy of the President of the Republic that the new and triumphant Algeria has been able, with confidence, determination, and sovereignty in its positions and decisions, to trace the contours of a promising future and occupy its rightful place within the community of nations, where it has established itself as a reliable international partner, an actor of regional stability, and a hub of geopolitical influence," he mentioned.

"Within the PNA, we are determined to join our efforts with those of patriotic men in all sectors, to actively contribute to this promising dynamic of renewal, through the creation of the security conditions necessary for the initiation of the expected economic recovery, as well as through the continued development of military manufacturing, whose contribution to the diversification of the national industrial fabric is undeniable," he affirmed.

In conclusion, the General of the Army addressed his congratulations to the executives promoted to higher ranks and to the recipients of medals, wishing them full success in their professional careers, the MND statement concluded.
