The Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure announced in a statement yesterday, Wednesday, that the expansion works at the Annaba phosphate port—which include the construction of a mineral quay as part of the Integrated Phosphate Project—are making steady progress, with construction sites set to be reinforced with additional equipment and human resources during July and August to accelerate the pace of work and guarantee the project's delivery within the scheduled deadlines.
A field visit carried out by the Director General of the National Agency for the Construction of Port Infrastructure (ANRIP), accompanied by heads of the executing companies, as well as experts and technicians, confirmed that work is continuing across various sites in accordance with the established technical program, according to the same source.
The visit covered dredging workshops, marine sand backfilling, and pile driving—which is currently progressing at a rate of ten piles per day—as well as the reinforced concrete pouring site, all executed in compliance with current technical and engineering standards, the statement specified.
The ministry also noted that during July and August, the project will be reinforced with additional machinery and equipment, alongside a doubling of the workforce, in order to boost the execution rate and complete the works within the set deadlines.
The Annaba phosphate port expansion project, which includes the construction of a mineral quay, is a key component of the Integrated Phosphate Project. It aims to strengthen port infrastructure and support logistical capabilities related to the transport and processing of phosphate.
This visit is part of the ongoing monitoring of basic infrastructure projects and the implementation of directives from the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Mr. Abdelkader Djellaoui, regarding regular, on-the-ground follow-ups of strategic projects.
