ABF Opens Applications to Join the Professional Boxing Pathway

ALGIERS - The Algerian Boxing Federation (ABF) announced yesterday, Wednesday, the upcoming opening of applications to join the newly established professional boxing pathway, as part of implementing a national system to organize the discipline in accordance with international standards.

This step follows the decision adopted by the Federation's General Assembly on March 3, 2026, which established the National Professional Boxing Commission. It also aligns with resolutions from the Federal Bureau meeting on June 23, 2026, and the meeting of the National Professional Boxing Commission held on June 29, the federal body specified.

According to the ABF statement, this initiative aims to realize the Federation's strategy to establish a modern professional boxing model based on the principles of good governance, transparency, competence, and professionalism, while expanding the network of stakeholders contributing to the development of the sport.

The call for applications will target individuals wishing to take on various roles within professional boxing, including professional boxing managers, fight promoters, matchmakers (fight coordinators), ringside physicians, professional boxers, as well as executives and officials in the professional boxing field.

The Federation indicated that the timeline for launching this process will be announced at a later date.

The ABF also urged future candidates to demonstrate seriousness and responsibility while respecting the legal, regulatory, and ethical provisions governing professional boxing. It emphasized that the sport is built on values of integrity, competence, discipline, and adherence to both national and international standards.

Application files will be reviewed based on objective criteria that guarantee equal opportunity, merit, and qualifications. This process aims to select the human resources best suited to help build a strong, sustainable professional system capable of promoting Algerian boxing on both continental and international stages, the same source added.

Finally, the Algerian Boxing Federation launched an appeal to all skilled national professionals, both in Algeria and abroad, to participate in this strategic project and contribute their expertise to the development of professional boxing, with the goal of strengthening Algeria's standing on the international stage and promoting a culture of professionalism, excellence, and good governance.
