The national basketball team defeated its Slovenian under-23 (U23) counterpart with a score of 104 to 85 in its second friendly match during its training camp in Slovenia, held in preparation for the 2026 Arab Nations Championship, the Algerian Basketball Federation (ABF) announced.
"This second victory reflects the positive momentum of the national team during its rigorous preparation for upcoming competitions, driven by top-tier teamwork and the exemplary competitiveness of all the players," the ABF wrote on social media.
The first friendly match against the Slovenian under-20 (U20) team ended in a 99-80 victory for the Algerian Five. A third and final match is scheduled for next Tuesday, also against the Slovenian under-23 team.
The national team flew to Slovenia on Saturday to begin this training camp, which marks the first stage of its preparation for the Arab Nations Championship, scheduled to take place from August 8 to 16 in Cairo, Egypt.
At the end of this training camp in Slovenia, Tarek Hamdani's teammates will head into a third phase of preparation from July 19 to 29, which will feature several friendly matches against African national teams before they depart for the Egyptian capital.
